Reservations.com launches new AI app to simplify travel

Reservations Group is bringing conversational AI directly into the booking journey with the launch of its new Reservations app, giving travelers a single place to discover, compare and book different elements of a trip.

Following an early-access period that began in June, the app officially launched on iOS and Android on September 29, 2026. It currently enables users to book US hotels, flights and ground transportation through one conversation, using either voice or text. Additional reservation categories and international markets are planned.

For Dylan Ratigan, President of Reservations, the opportunity lies in tackling one of travel’s most persistent frustrations: fragmentation.

“The need to use a different service or platform for hotel, air, ground and entertainment and managing each one separately is the biggest pain point we have set out to resolve,” he says.

Rather than requiring travelers to move between search engines, airline websites, hotel platforms and other booking services, Reservations aims to keep the process within a single interface. Users can describe where they want to travel, when they want to go and what matters to them, before the app identifies options, answers questions and completes the reservation without redirecting them to a third-party app.

According to Ratigan, conversational AI fundamentally changes the way travelers can communicate what they are looking for. He describes it as “a revolution” because users can explain the kind of experience they want rather than having to know exactly what to search for in advance. The technology can then surface options around those preferences.

The ambition is for the app to remain useful well beyond the initial transaction. Ratigan says he wants users to feel as though they are “connected to the world’s best travel agent from the moment they leave home until the moment they return”, with an experience that is easy, reliable, secure and convenient. He sees Reservations becoming “the compass at the center of their journey from beginning to end”.

The launch forms part of a wider evolution at Reservations Group, formerly known as HotelPlanner. Co-founded in 2003 by Tim Hentschel and John Prince, HotelPlanner built its business around online hotel bookings for individual, group and corporate travelers. Today, the wider Reservations Group portfolio includes HotelPlanner, Reservations.com, Reservations.ai, TicketPlanner, Flyus.com and Meetings.com, supported by a growing investment in AI and reservation technology.

That scale is already significant. The Group’s AI agents handle more than 250,000 customer interactions per day, while it is on track to generate nearly US$4 billion in gross booking value this year after growing by approximately 70% annually over the past three years.

Growth outside the US is also firmly on the agenda. Ratigan identifies international markets, especially in Europe, alongside significant growth in air, ground transportation and events as some of Reservations’ biggest opportunities over the coming years.
