Miami International Airport continues to soar

This year’s WTE host, Miami International Airport (MIA) is highlighting its spectacular jump in passenger numbers and cargo volumes, a new travel resource, and its major renovation investments.

Miami International Airport (MIA), a leading economic engine for Miami-Dade County, has maintained strong growth with passenger traffic increasing by 9% and total cargo volume rising by 6% this year through August.

As of September 2024, MIA is serviced by 94 passenger and cargo airlines with several new additions this year, including Condor Airlines, LEVEL, Avelo Airlines, and Viva Aerobus. Additionally, MIA’s seasonal airlines will resume their winter schedules, with Aer Lingus flying to Dublin, Sun Country to Minneapolis/Saint Paul, KLM to Amsterdam, Lufthansa to Munich, SAS to both Copenhagen and Stockholm, Norse Atlantic to Berlin, Finnair to Helsinki, and Porter Airlines to Toronto.

MIA has launched MIADiscover.com, allowing travellers to explore the airport’s air service network stretching over 160 destinations. A comprehensive travel resource, MIADiscover.com provides access to flight schedules, reservations, and expertly crafted destination guides.

The Airport is receiving an unprecedented investment of $7B in capital improvements and $1.7B in maintenance upgrades over the next 10 years to make MIA future ready. This significant investment underscores MIA’s commitment to enhancing the traveler’s experience and meeting the growing demand for air travel.

As a pivotal hub for perishable goods distribution and a key player in the global pharmaceutical industry, MIA stands as the leading international freight airport in the United States. In 2023, MIA’s total trade value, excluding in-transit freight, reached $74.6B with 1.3M tons of cargo.

Host of this year’s World Travel Expo (WTE) Miami, MIA can be found at stand 601.
