Icelandair and Southwest Airlines join forces to make U.S.–Europe travel easier than ever
A new partnership opens the door to more U.S. cities with smooth connections to Iceland and Europe
As global travel continues to rebound, Southwest Airlines and Icelandair are expanding their strategic partnership to strengthen transatlantic connectivity. Since July 14, 2025, Icelandair has introduced new connecting services through Orlando, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh-Durham, adding to existing hubs in Baltimore, Nashville, and Denver. The extended network enables smoother travel between Europe and Southwest’s extensive domestic routes.
The collaboration reinforces Icelandair’s position as a key player in international aviation. The airline maintains over a dozen codeshare agreements and over 70 interline partnerships, connecting 34 destinations in Europe and 17 in North America. For Southwest, traditionally focused on domestic markets, this partnership offers customers broader international access without disrupting its core operational model.
By combining Icelandair’s transatlantic expertise with Southwest’s widespread U.S. presence, the partnership delivers greater flexibility and convenience for travelers on both sides of the ocean. Seamless booking, coordinated schedules, and baggage transfer are central to the customer experience.
