Iberia touches down in Orlando and charts bold course for the future

New nonstop service to Orlando, major fleet upgrades, and ambitious growth plans highlight Iberia’s path to 2030.

Starting October 26, Iberia will launch its first-ever route to Orlando International Airport (MCO), offering four weekly flights between Madrid and Central Florida aboard Airbus A330 aircraft. The move marks a major milestone for both the Spanish flag carrier and Orlando, known globally for its theme parks and thriving convention scene.

“This route strengthens cultural and economic ties,” said Greater Orlando Aviation Authority CEO Kevin J. Thibault. Iberia’s María Jesús López Solás added, “We believe Orlando can become the star destination for next Christmas.”

The new connection is part of Iberia’s broader strategic roadmap, Flight Plan 2030, which aims to enhance global connectivity and elevate the passenger experience. The airline plans to expand its long-haul fleet from 45 to 70 aircraft by the end of the decade, investing in Airbus A350s, A321XLRs, and A330NEOs.

Alongside Orlando, Iberia is adding new routes to Toronto, Philadelphia, and Monterrey, Mexico, as well as two additional routes to Brazil’s northeast—Recife and Fortaleza. Upgrades are also underway, including redesigned long-haul cabins, expanded carry-on capacity on narrow-body aircraft, and a new Premium Lounge at Madrid-Barajas Airport.
